If you’re a fan of Penelope Ward or star-crossed lovers who get a second chance, this one’s for you! However, it felt like the story kind of lost its bearing a bit in the middle but picked back up in the last quarter.ĭespite a couple of minor missteps, I enjoyed Mack and Francesca’s story.
Seeing it for the second time was even better. Seeing them fall in love the first time was adorable, funny, and sweet. There are tension and chemistry galore, and I loved getting to see the flashbacks of Mack and Francesca when they were younger. I loved the first half or so of this book.
She has her life together until he comes to town and upsets everything she has built. In the present, Mack is a father of a first-grader and he’s intent on reconnecting with Francesca, the roommate he has never forgotten.įrancesca is now a teacher at a private school, having moved on from the devastation Mack left behind. The story includes present-day and flashbacks to tell the story. I feel like this is becoming a signature of Penelope Ward, but one that I will gladly read again and again. Their time together runs out unexpectedly, as events beyond their control separate them. Mack Daddy is the story of two star-crossed lovers who meet as college roommates and gradually become the best of friends.
